Decal Sheets OK, call me nutty. Yes, I have seen where people are selling their own custom decal sheets for the AMT/ERTL model Eagle. These are not for sale. They are FREE! I drew these decals using Corel Draw, a vector graphics based program. I included some of the wonky red/white red/black patterns from your original AMT/ERTL sheet, just in case you wanted them. Also there are a few miscellaneous gray "panels" in the mix if you want to place those somewhere. Vector-based graphics hold their razor-sharp edges at any zoom level, unlike pixelated graphic files. Yes, I realize the files I am providing are pixel graphic (GIF) files. But they are of a high enough resolution that you shouldn't have any big complaints. You can print these out on a 5.5" x 8.5" (139mm x 215.9mm) sheet. Testors model supplies has decal paper which comes in either white or clear that you can purchase at your local hobby dealer or from them for around $7.00 USD. One part number has a white background (They have changed the part numbers recently). They also make a clear background decal sheet, but I don't recommend it for this particular set. If you don't have laser labels or inkjet decal paper, you can even print these on plain Avery label paper if you want. Just bear in mind they are difficult to remove if you get one screwed up. If worse comes to worse, print them on a sheet of glossy, cut them out and glue them to your Eagle model. I suggest cutting these over a surface that you don't care much about using an Xacto knife or scalpel. If you are using decal paper, I suggest a really sharp and straight set of scissors and great care. I have used notepad backing, cardboard and scrap smooth plywood to go underneath my scalpel cutting projects. Just be darn sure you don't cut these on the wife's dining room table - you will die. The best way I have found to apply small decals is to position then on the end of an #11 (pointed) Xacto or scalpel blade. This allows you to correctly position them and begin applying one edge to the model's surface. As it begins to go on, you can help the application with a QTip or other cotton swab. This will make placing the decals much easier and then you can smooth it out with the QTip, removing any air bubbles that might be under the surface. If you like these, drop me a line and let me know! Download: These are very large files, if you are using dial-up Internet, plan on staying a while. I suggest you download the resolution that is native to your printer.
