News and Notes:

Saturday, November 3 2007 saw a number of Scouts at the historic Paramount Theater in Abilene, Texas. The theme was "Duty to God" and was intended to educated and encourage Scouts to earn their religious service award. While there, we were all treated to a free showing of "Follow Me, Boys!" which was a Scouting movie released by Walt Disney in 1966 which starred Fred MacMurray of "My Three Sons" fame and a very young Kirt Russell.

Each Scout who attended was presented with a special event patch for their brag vests.

During the first part of February, Scouts everywhere participate in Scout Sunday. This is a time when places of worship recognize those in their membership who participate in Scouting. Often Scouts participate in the worship service such as ushers, or reading scripture. Scouts are encouraged to wear their uniforms to morning worship and to sit together.

Scout leaders are also encouraged to wear their uniforms. This is a good time to have an article in the membership bulletin or on a bulletin board in the lobby telling about Scouts and Scouting. This is also an appropriate time to recognize those involved in Girl Scouts as well.
