On June 30, 1964 the periodical The Firm Foundation, which is well known among the members of the Churches of Christ, published a two-page article entitled "Preaching All Day and Dinner on the Ground".
It carries some interesting photos and a well-written article about the establishment and history of the Pecos River Encampment. This is posted as two images side by side (and may be slow to load on some browsers and network ISP's). |

In September of 1996, Glenn Willeford wrote a formal paper for the Archives of Sul Ross University as well as the Brown Library at Abilene Christian University, entitled "A History of the Pecos River Family Encampment 1940-1996". It was complete with accompanying photographs (which appear on this website in the 1996 photos page. In 2001, I hand-transcribed this from scanned sheets from the ACU library and formatted it into HTML for easy viewing on the web. You may begin reading it at this link: |

I have also been given a set of articles from Joe Prosise, which I will scan pretty soon and include on this site as well - it is a set of newspaper excerpts which take in the Pecos River Encampment as well. |
